Houston McCoy and Wheeler School raise money for LeBonheur; Finish Third at Monroe

(Baldwyn, Miss.) - INEX Legends Car Racer Houston McCoy is a supporter of LeBonheur Children's Medical Center. Within two weeks of school starting last month, Houston asked Wheeler School if they would partner with him raise money in the form of a coin drive.

Starting on a Monday the students brought in pennies, on Tuesday-nickles, Wednesday-dimes, Thursday- quarters, and Friday dollars.

Houston told the school if they would help raise this money. He would put the schools logo on the side of his INEX Legends Car.

Wheeler stepped up and every morning opening up their pockets and give their coins to Lebonheur. At the end of the week they had raised and donated $ 505.00. "I am proud to be able to help LeBonheur," Houston said. "I just thought it would be fun to teach some other kids about how easy it is to make a difference. I hope they always remember that it is more important to give than receive. I had a lot of fun doing that."

Pictured with Houston and his car with the Eagle's logo are some of the students from Wheeler Attendance Center (Wheeler, Ms.).

Houston also had fun in his last outing with the Wheeler Attendance Center car. Racing at Monroe Motor Speedway in Monroe, La., Houston scored his best ever Legends finish with a strong third place run. "We got the car running really good, and I thought I had a shot at the win. But we lost a little bit there on the handling toward the end and I couldn't stay with the two leaders. We're getting closer to the win, and just trying to run laps and finish races."

The next start for Houston should be back at Monroe on Saturday, October 24th.
